International CooperationsInternational PartnershipeduSTORE is being developed with main input from the German Higher Education Agency HIS (www.his.de). Six German developers are working permanently on eduSTORE for system improvements and functionality enhancements. In the beginning of 2008, a collaboration between the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC; www.ucsc.cmb.ac.lk) and HIS has been established with two goals in mind: 1. Installation and commissioning of eduSTORE as a National Higher Education Management Information System (N-HEMIS; www.nhemis.lk). The project was funded by the World Bank as a component of IRQUE project (Improve Relevance and Quality of Undergraduate Education), which is under the Ministry of Higher Education Sri Lanka. N-HEMIS (as well as UGC-HEMIS, a specialized system for the University Grants Commission UGC) was successfully implemented, and both systems are in use now. 2. Establishing a long-lasting, permanent development cooperation between UCSC Colombo and HIS Hannover to internationalize eduSTORE, adapt it to the needs of Sri Lanka and the Asia region and to realize additional functionalities to the system. Since spring 2008, three UCSC developers are working permanently on the maintenance of N-HEMIS and the further development of eduSTORE. Partners & CustomersPartners: UCSC and HIS watch out for additional partners that like to use eduSTORE to support decision making in the field of higher education and would like to join the cooperate development of the system. Partners will be trained to use eduSTORE, to customize it, and to adapt it to their specific needs. Customers: Usage-only of eduSTORE is also possible. Installation, customization, and maintenance of eduSTORE as a decision support system in higher education can also be ordered as a service. Consultancy is offered by the Sri Lankan - German development Consortium mentioned above. |
